When questioned he explained that his partners in South Asia were often struggling to put food on the table and to pay basic medical and school fees. If that was the reality of many on the frontline transforming communities with the love of God, how could he justify a luxurious lifestyle with every need and desire cared for? This answer made sense. And slowly but surely, friends, family and even a businessman or two began to come alongside. New givers wanted to join the community and it quickly spread to Europe, America, Africa and Asia. Though we’ve grown significantly since, we still retain our close community feel. The model was working and producing real results. And without any considerable intentionality, the project was already starting to scale. This was when we realised this was something which could change the world. He saw how local people were bringing transformation through the sharing of God’s story of generosity and through developing faith communities. He realised he wanted to make supporting these national workers his life’s work. He was convicted that it wasn’t right that work as wonderful as this should be limited by something as ordinary as money - especially for the small sums of money involved. Each workers’ basic support was only $80 per month! He realised there was a powerful multiplier here. If he worked as a doctor overseas he would be just one person making a difference. But if he stayed in the UK and worked as a doctor there - embracing a sacrificial lifestyle as if he were on the frontline himself - he could comfortably support 15, 30, even 60 of these national workers! The 500k Run is the pinnacle event in our summer of fundraising. Last year in our inaugral event, we were able to raise enough money to send 45 new field workers into rural India through our communities fund raising efforts. Our goal is to run 500 kilometers across our 500k community. You can get involved by running a 5k, a 10k or perhaps even a half marathon! And what’s this all for? We believe that every person in India should have access to the good news of Jesus. There are so many people in India who have never heard of Jesus. Up to 500,000 villages that have no church community, no gospel witness. So we are helping to send people into these unreached villages to share the love of Jesus. Our goal through the 500k run this year is to send 50 new field workers into rural villages in India. These 50 workers will go on to impact around 100 villages. It costs $80 a month to send a missionary into an an unreached village in India. And this year, because of the generosity of some of our key supporters, we have enough match funding to send 100 new field workers. That means that for every $1 you give, one of our key supporters will go on to give a further $1 themselves, doubling your impact. It was destiny. 2021 saw the first ever 500km cycle for 500k. And now it’s back. It may have taken a full year for our saddle soreness to fully recover. But now we’re finally ready… Come on 500k ride 2022! Will and Ed are cycling a 500km circular route starting and ending in Oxford. In the mean time we’ll be passing through the Chiltern Hills, Bath, the Wye Valley, the Malverns, and the Cotswolds. Our goal for this cycle, along with other events this summer, is to raise funds to send 50 more missionaries in India. That’s $48,000. That’s no mean feat. One for each of the nation’s unreached villages. Now here’s the fun part: it only costs us $80 a month ($960 a year) to send each of these missionaries. Our dream is that from this ride and other events this summer, will enable us to raise $48,000 - to send 50 of these workers to minister to 100+ unreached villages. Help us achieve that by donating!
